Top headlines of the day:

1) COVID-19 cases have risen dramatically in India, with 89,129 new cases registered in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, on april 1, more than lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered, the highest single-day coverage ever.

2) CM Uddhav Thackeray cautioned that if Covid-19 cases continue to increase at their current pace, the state's health system will be overwhelmed in the next 15-20 days, and that he will decide on a full lockdown in the next two days.

3) Dushyant Chautala, Haryana's Deputy Chief Minister, announced on Friday that the state government's private job reservation law, which guarantees 75 percent of private sector jobs to state residents, would take effect on May 1.
